Electronic Music Producer
Bio
floatie (Ariah Potts) is a self-taught music producer from Warren, Ohio, specializing in Pop, Hyperpop, and Experimental Electronic music. She started making music in 2015, but didn't get serious about her craft until 2020. Her work is a surreal mix of fun, irreverent, eccentric and personal, drawing inspiration from her transgender identity and also her mental illness, including her experiences with schizophrenia and depression. floatie's music is described as off-kilter, euphoric, and video game-y, with a unique sound that’s all her own.
Inspirations
- A. G. Cook - An experimental pop pioneer, founder of the PC Music label, and frequent Charli XCX collaborator.
- Hudson Mohawke and Lunice - Changed the hip hop and trap games permanently with their quirky forward-thinking beats; both as solo artists and as the band TNGHT. Hudson often collaborated with Kanye West.
- Jai Paul - Jai's genre-bending debut (which leaked in 2013) was as forward-thinking as it was playful and funky. He has been sampled by artists like Drake and Beyonce and has produced for artists like Big Boi, Childish Gambino, and Ariana Grande.
